Why
should I consider freeze-drying my floral bouquet?
Freeze-drying
your special bouquet such as from your wedding provides an opportunity
to enjoy your floral treasure for years to come.
Is
is expensive?
Not
really. When you consider the many years of enjoyment
you will receive from your floral treasure that reminds
you of the joy and happiness of your special moment. You
are also creating an heirloom that will probably be one
of the best investments that you'll ever make.
What
is freeze-drying?
It is a
process of preserving flowers by using extreme cold (-25°
c) and a vacuum pump. To learn more, please visit our section
on the process of freeze-drying.
Why
is freeze-drying the best method of preservation?
In the
old days, people would remove a special flower from their wedding
bouquet and press it in a book or bible. The result was a dry,
powdered flower after a few years. The color was dark and the
beauty was gone... Freeze-drying provides our best method of
preserving flowers with little if any color changes and minimal
shrinkage if any. Flowers remain alive-looking, vibrant and
beautiful!
What
kind of equipment is required to freeze-dry?
Renaissance
Rose uses a modern, state-of-the-art machine called a freeze-dryer.
The freeze dryer has a large chamber for freezing and a vacuum
pump for removing moisture.
How
long does this process take?
With prior
planning, usually we can have your special floral bouquet freeze-dried,
processed and framed in about 3-4 weeks. For rose petals, we
have them on-hand.
How
soon should I get my flowers to you?
The
sooner the better. Please read our pre-preservation
handling suggestions. We prefer within 24 hours after
the special event. Some flowers can be refrigerated and kept
for days. We suggest that you make arrangements before
your event.
